October 24, 2010

Well to most people this day is just another day but this is the day that Russy and I got ENGAGED!
Russy and I had been celebrating his birthday since the 1st of October so when he said that we were going to go out for dinner one last time to celebrate his birthday I really did not think much of it. We had plans to go to Lugano's, (our favorite Italian restaurant), for a nice dinner. Some of the time when we would go there we would get dressed up and other times we would not. Since it had been snowing that day I had put on jeans, a sweater, and boots. Russy on the other hand was all dressed up. Since I did not want to get shown up in the fashion department I changed; seriously 8 times. There were clothes thrown all over the place and I was sweating because I could not find an outfit to wear. I finally found a dress to wear with my boots, put my string of clothes away and we were off to Aunt Shanna's house to drop off Hunty. Again I still have not thought anything about it. Aunt Shanna and her whole family were there to greet us and take Hunter in. We stayed for a few minutes and then we headed out. When we got to the restaurant we were seated at a very lovely table by a window so we could enjoy the scenery outside. Within a few minutes of being seated Russy started to explain that he was really cold. I thought this was odd because he was never cold and we were sitting inside in the heat. I offered my jacket to him and he said no because it was not long enough to cover his feet. All I could think was, "great... he is being an old man"... little did I know! So he went out side to get his jacket so that he could cover his cold feet and I ordered appetizers, wine for myself, and a Pepsi for Russy. He came back in and we had a great meal! He stayed warm the whole time with is jacket on his lap and we enjoyed the best pasta dishes in town. When we were all threw eating we got a tiramisu to split and Russy had a latte. When the bill came Russy went up front to pay for dinner and he said that he had to use the bathroom. I went up front and waited for him. NOW... during the summer we had gone there and ate outside on the patio. It is really amazing out there and he said that we should go out there and check it out at night when they have all of the lights on. Still oblivious to the whole situation, we headed out back. He was right; it was amazing out there at night with all of the lights on except nobody was going to sit out there because it was 28 outside. Anyhow, we were just out there for a minute before I look down and there was Russy with a box open and the most beautiful diamond ring in it! He was proposing and I had no idea AT ALL that it was coming. All I could do was laugh and say SHUT UP over and over! It was so awesome! Well after the initial shock I said yes and we were officially engaged! It was so great... then I felt bad for thinking Russy was being an "old man" because he needed his jacket with the ring in it. On of my favorite stories!
